What’s more beautiful than the botanicals around us? Brewing those botanicals into blushing inks to then create with!

Our botanical inks are available to purchase in our shop, but we are offering a very special opportunity for you to learn to create some of these inks yourself.

The day will begin with a walk to forage for our materials to create our inks. Every season has a different bounty to brew, but the British autumn holds an exceptional array of materials such as acorns, pinecones, hawthorns & so much more which we can extract from. Once we’ve got our materials, we’ll light a cosy fire & cook up our inks while enjoying a chat over a cup of warm tea or coffee (many homemade foraged to try). We’ll learn about the history of ink’s & how they have been used by cultures for thousands of years, the chemical differences between pigments & dyes & so much more. After lunch (homegrown & made pumpkin soup with homemade bread available), we’ll have a lesson learning what we can do with our inks & play with the different mordants & PH levels to expose the hidden possibilities in our inks & create a beautiful piece of artwork. You’ll also be able to take home your homemade inks to continue your exploration of this versatile artistic medium.
