Wellbeing Walk
Winter can be a difficult time for our mental wellbeing: less sunlight leads to a lack of vitamin D which in turn affects our bodies ability to produce serotonin & melatonin which helps us feel good & sleep well, the daylight, or lack of it, means a decrease in exercise & there decreases our dopamine as well as the financial worries & loneliness that all comes along with the coming months. Through our “Wellbeing Walks” however, we hope to guide you through the winter blues & find the light & beauty which comes through the darkness.
You’ll learn how to reconnect with the changing of the seasons, experience different approaches such as Hygge, connect with others as well as with your own creativity & develop a new way to look at the world through foraging, journaling & crafts.

We’ll take a wonderous walk along the hedgerow to collect our beautiful bounty. We’ll use the leaves to eco print our garments to create the most beautiful prints & dye pot to bring out the beautiful bright colours which can be achieves from these brilliant berries.
After a bountiful banquet of homemade, homegrown & foraged food of course celebrating the best the blackberry has to offer, we’ll transform our dye pot into ink after discovering how adding different PH levels can alter the colours we can achieve.
Our second day will take us into discovering what can be achieved with the bramble stems we foraged the day before. We’ll learn how to extract fibre’s & turn them into cordage as well as using the stems as a whole for a basic weave.

Art 101 - Drawing skills & creative expression
With over 10 years of teaching experience, you can be guaranteed to learn techniques to improve your artistic practice & reconnect to your creativity with our art 101 workshops. So often, people say that they are incapable of drawing, with tried & tested drawing exercises, we can change all that.
We begin our day, as all creative pursuits start, with inspiration. We’ll take a wonderful winter walk to take photo’s, make sketches & note the colours which we wish to bring into our art work. Once back in the studio (& warmed up with tea & cake), we’ll guide you through some drawing skills as you decide which way you wish to go with your inspiration as well as playing with a range of materials to explore textures, lines & colours to enhance your art work.
After lunch, we’ll begin our pieces & create an ode to the winter landscape with guidance every step of the way.
Location - The Painted Fern Studio
Cost (including lunch & most materials) - £60
Maximum Capacity - 6 participants

Succulent Wreath Making
Christmas wreath making workshops have become really popular over the past few years. I remember attending one myself at the tender age of 8 with my mum & have been making my own wreaths for our front door ever since. After becoming obsessed with green roof systems a few years ago, I began propagating hundreds of succulents and so last year, I created a living wreath with them which can be kept all year round growing more beautiful as the months go by, rather than being thrown away on boxing day.
Our living wreath workshop will guide you through the process of creating one of these wreaths for yourself to dress your festive door or gift to a friend. With homemade mince pies & mulled perry or tea/coffee, your guaranteed to walk away festive & full of the joys of a more sustainable Christmas.
Location - Commonwood Farm, knighton-on-teme, Tenbury Wells

Botanical Brew's - Ink Making Workshop
What’s more beautiful than the botanicals around us? Brewing those botanicals into blushing inks to then create with!
Our botanical inks are available to purchase in our shop, but we are offering a very special opportunity for you to learn to create some of these inks yourself.
The day will begin with a walk to forage for our materials to create our inks. Every season has a different bounty to brew, but the British autumn holds an exceptional array of materials such as acorns, pinecones, hawthorns & so much more which we can extract from. Once we’ve got our materials, we’ll light a cosy fire & cook up our inks while enjoying a chat over a cup of warm tea or coffee (many homemade foraged to try). We’ll learn about the history of ink’s & how they have been used by cultures for thousands of years, the chemical differences between pigments & dyes & so much more. After lunch (homegrown & made pumpkin soup with homemade bread available), we’ll have a lesson learning what we can do with our inks & play with the different mordants & PH levels to expose the hidden possibilities in our inks & create a beautiful piece of artwork. You’ll also be able to take home your homemade inks to continue your exploration of this versatile artistic medium.
